Leadership
Framework

A suite of principles and concepts covering approach, methodology, philosophy and potential solutions to challenges raised during our initial conversation.

On getting started
First things first.
A long-term strategy is crucial - but a strong start in the role builds the credibility that makes everything else possible. It sets the tone for how larger initiatives will be delivered. This is the phase in which we deeply understand and prioritise the issues that matter most, and honestly assess the resource available to address them.
My Approach to IT Leadership

An approach built on 20 years across law, legal technology and regulated manufacturing. What follows reflects how I think about getting started in a new role, how I build a strategy grounded in evidence, and how I ensure that when it comes to delivery, things actually get done.

Guiding principle
Build the systems. Then build the people.
Systems and processes set the benchmark; they establish the floor. Principles and behaviours shape habits, and habits determine how high above that floor a team can reach.
Tools I'd Bring to the Role

These are not off-the-shelf frameworks. After hearing from Peter and Dan about the challenges Clarke Willmott faces, I went away and developed these specifically - drawing on experience of having solved similar problems before. Each one is a direct response to something I heard: how to keep a team aligned, how to develop people through change, and how to turn fragmented data into something the firm can actually use.
